Gary C. Sherwin
President & CEO
A 25-year hospitality industry veteran, Gary C. Sherwin, CDME, APR has served as President & CEO of Visit Newport Beach Inc since 2006. Sherwin is responsible for overseeing the destination marketing organization promoting Newport Beach, California as a premiere luxury conference and leisure destination with offices in Newport Beach, Sacramento, London, and Sydney.
Sherwin is also the Chairman of the Orange County Visitors Association and the past chairman of the board for the California Travel Association, the state’s leading umbrella tourism advocacy organization. Prior to joining Newport Beach, Sherwin served as the Vice President of Market Development for the Palm Springs Desert Resorts Convention & Visitors Authority, the Vice President of Marketing for the Long Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Director of Media Relations for the Los Angeles Convention & Visitors Bureau.
He has been married for the last 25 years to Liz, a television talent agent. They have two daughters, Lauren, who attends Arizona State University and Allyson, a sophomore in high school.
Chief Financial Officer
Lesley Swain currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer for Newport Beach & Company and Visit Newport Beach Inc. Swain graduated from the University of Colorado with a Masters in Public Administration and a Masters in Business Administration.
Much of Swain’s career has been in health care administration and management, but she has had the senior financial position with travel trade organizations for the last seven years. Originally from Ontario, Canada, Swain’s passion for cooking has her taking full advantage of Southern California living by exploring the amazing farmers markets for culinary inspiration.
Senior Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer
Doug McClain currently serves as the Senior Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer for Newport Beach & Company and oversees a diverse portfolio of responsibilities in marketing the city of Newport Beach, California. He is the chief strategist, brand architect and integrated marketing leader for the umbrella organization and business units that include Visit Newport Beach Inc., Dine Newport Beach, Newport Beach TV, Celebrate Newport Beach and Enterprise Newport Beach.
McClain has 25 years of marketing expertise in hospitality, tourism and publishing industries. McClain has a degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia and an MBA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Senior Director of Marketing & New Media
Mark Rudyk has worked in the Interactive Marketing segment for the past 12 years in the Travel, Tourism, & Recreation field and is currently the Director of Digital Marketing for Newport Beach & Co., where he manages all online marketing initiatives including mobile, web, email, search, and social media. Most recently, Rudyk was responsible for directing the Mammoth Lakes Tourism digital marketing, and prior to that, managed online marketing for Vail Resorts and Montbleu Casino Resort & Spa in Lake Tahoe, NV.
From mountains to the sand and as a resident of the Newport Beach peninsula, Rudyk enjoys surfing, sailing, and cruising bikes along the scenic boardwalk.
Senior Director of Media Relations & Brand Management
Jenny Wedge joins Newport Beach & Company with more than 15 years of experience in media relations, crisis communications and strategic planning. Wedge most recently spent 10 years with John Wayne Airport in Orange County, where she served as public relations manager and public information officer. In those roles, Wedge acted as the first line of communication with media and managed relationships with contractors, tourism partners, and the public on behalf of the organization.
Wedge is current secretary of the board of directors for the Orange County Visitors Association (OCVA), as well as the president of the Orange County chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). She holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from California State University, Fullerton.
